Spark youth project -CRED Project

The CRED project encourages young people to volunteer in the community, enabling them to learn new skills and confidence that will see them enter into higher education, training or employment.

The Project supports young people to run community events and activities. The project has supported young people to run a 5 a side tournament, a raffle to raise money for a trip, an under 18’s disco, with more projects in the pipeline.

The Project is also aware of the work of other agencies and the benefit young people will gain volunteering with you. Does your project feel that they can develop the skills of young people through volunteering? Or if you have a young volunteer please let the project know. Young people can volunteer with individuals too, helping them with daily chores or on short projects.

SCVS,
Hello Everybody, I’m John Casey

I am the Development Worker for your area for the new Communities First project based at SCVS. The project will bring wider opportunities to get involved in activities ideally suited to you.
The project can introduce you to volunteering with some exciting activities across Swansea and guide you through the process of sharing your skills with others. Volunteering is an important route towards increasing confidence, and building skills and can play a part in helping people to get more out of life.

I hope to start some local ‘drop-ins’ very soon and I can be contacted at
SCVS on 01792 544009.

The New
Drop In Centre

It’s a busy time at the New Drop In Centre, our garden is blooming! Volunteers have excelled themselves this year and have a variety of vegetables growing in and around the poly tunnel. Thanks to Tony, our volunteer grounds man, for all the tender care given to our crop. We will be hosting a ‘thank you lunch’ for our gardening enthusiasts, with freshly picked lettuces, tomatoes, cucumbers and much more from our garden.

Money for old rags! We need donations of clothes, old or new. Think something isn't suitable to sell? Call in and ask. Textile recycling is a major source of income at the New Drop In Centre, all donations are gratefully received.

We now except Healthy Start vouchers at our Food Co-op every Thursday.

For further information on any of our projects, just pop into the Drop In where the kettle’s always on.

3, 2, 1……. Blast Off
Swansea Community Farm has launched a super-duper new website.

It shows you everything that’s going on down at the Farm, from the volunteer opportunities, the children and youth activities, the new Education Programme, the launch of the Home Compost Demonstration Area and of course, everyone’s favourites, the animals. So if you want to get involved, there is no excuse not to, with the Farm at the end of your fingertips. But if you simply want to read about what we do on our compact 3.5 acres, then the information is all there before your eyes.

We are really proud of our new site, but don’t forget, the real thing is just as colourful and much more friendly. Read all about it, be all about it!

Check it out at
www.swanseacommunityfarm.org.uk and give us your feedback!
